Solvents • Affect behaviour • Can damage the lungs, liver and brain
Alcohol • Has an effect on the nervous system • Slows down reaction time, • causes loss of self control + even coma • May damage the liver and brain
Tobacco • Tobacco contains substances which cause: • Lung cancer • bronchitis and emphysema • Heart disease + damage to blood vessels • Pregnant smokers often have low weight babies due to carbon monoxide in the blood reducing the oxygen supply to the baby ( Carbon monoxide irreversibly combines with the haemoglobin in red blood cells)
