The survey says…. • 99% of students have cell phones • 97% use their phone for text messaging • 95% bring their phones to class everyday • 91% set their phones to vibrate • 9% turn them off • 88% text during class • 10% text during exams (are they cheating?!) and 33% refused to answer this question!!!
And…. • 64% stated that they should be allowed to keep their cell phones on in class • <1% stated that cell phones should not be permitted in the classroom
Hand-held devices like smartphones and tablets are fast becoming the primary way many people use the Internet. • In 2012, half of all college students used mobile devices to access the Internet, compared with 10 percent of students in 2008, according to Educause
