There are four main sentence functions in English:<br>Declarative sentences make a statement or provide information. They are the most common type and end with a period. For example: "The first toilet ever seen on television was on Leave It to Beaver."<br>Interrogative sentences ask a question and end with a question mark. For example: "How you gonna keep 'em down on the farm when they've seen Paris?"<br>Imperative sentences give a command or direction, and often omit the subject. They end with a period or exclamation mark. <br>Exclamatory sentences express strong emotion and end with an exclamation mark.
