What are Organo Pak products? • Organo Pak products are areca leaf plates and dinnerware. They are made from naturally shed leaves of tropical trees. No trees are chopped or cut at any stage during the making process and only shedded areca leaves are used to make these products. • These environmentally-friendly plates, bowls and serving dishes are thus made only from two products: fallen leaves and water. They're non-toxic, biodegradable, compostable, durable, lightweight, convenient and downright stylish.

FAQ’s Are they single-use/disposable? (They seem so durable)? We know it’s hard to believe that Organo pak products are intended for single-use, but our line is actually fully biodegradable and compostable. Because we do not use any bonding agents, lacquers or chemicals and our product is natural and porous, we cannot legally recommend washing and reusing Organo pak products. We can, however, tell you that our customers often write in that they hand wash the plates and enjoy them time and again. Where do you produce your products (get the leaves)? Our dinnerware is produced in India. We own our factory where all of our workers receive fair wages in safe working conditions and are provided access to medical care.
FAQ’s Isn’t shipping your product from India energy inefficient? Ships do use energy, but they are a surprisingly efficient means of transportation, especially since our products pack flat. In fact, the energy for us to ship a container to our warehouse is equal to a truck driving round trip from New York to Boston. We believe we have a negative carbon impact, between us saving millions of leaves from being burned and our hyper-efficient factory. Are Organo pak products completely non-toxic? Yes, all of our products are completely non-toxic, because we use nothing but leaves and water. Will these affect the taste of my food? No. Organo pak products won’t alter the taste of your food in any way. They also have no lacquers on them, so there’s nothing to leach into your food-something that can happen with plastics or PLA plastics (aka bioplastic).
FAQ’s Are these clean? Do I need to wash them before I use them? You can serve meals on our products straight out of the package! All products are cleaned and UV sterilized in our factory no less than three (3) times, so they’re extremely clean. Is it safe to put Organo pak products in a microwave, oven, or fridge? Yes, within reason. Organo pak products are significantly more durable than plastic or paper plates. It’s perfectly safe to heat Organo pak products in the microwave for up to 2 minutes or in an oven up to 250 degrees for 20 minutes (making sure they are at least 6" from heat source). You can also store Organo pak products in the refrigerator or freezer. Do Organo pak products hold liquids? Yes: they do hold liquids.
FAQ’s Who makes Organo pak products? We do. Unlike many companies that outsource production to cut costs, we proudly own / finance all of our production facilities so that we can ensure the highest manufacturing standards and working conditions for our employees. All employees work in conditions compliant with international standards and earn a steady income to support their families. Are Organo pak dishes recyclable? No. Recycling involves melting permanent materials (i.e. metals, glass, plastic, and etc), and reforming them for reuse. Since our products are made from leaves, they’re compostable and will naturally return to the earth in 2 months. This process uses 90% less energy than recycling.
