WEB 2.0 AND BEYOND!GOOGLE DOCS • Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service which was released on April 24, 2012, and it features user cloud storage, file sharing, and collaborative editing. • Google Drive is the home of Google Docs, an office suite of productivity applications, that offer collaborative editing on documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and more.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE • I was very happy to be introduced to this convenient and useful tool by a fellow college student who also led a very busy lifestyle. • We were having difficulties finding time to meet up for a group project, and Google Docs helped by allowing us to collaborate on work from home!
ELEMENTARY INCORPORATION Why use it? Students can use Google Docs to: • Work on their files from any computer-all they need is an internet connection. • Get instant feedback on their work from multiple collaborators and their teachers. • Publish their papers and presentations on the web for an authentic audience.
USEFUL FOR TEACHERS Teachers can use Google Docs to: • Provide timely feedback to students at any point during the writing process. • Collaborate with colleagues on shared materials and assessment data • Publish handouts and presentations online for students and parents.
IDEAS FOR CLASSROOM USE • Split class into 8 groups and have them conduct research on an assigned planet and then collaborate using Google Docs. • Have all groups collaborate research and design a PowerPoint presentation on the Solar System • Each student would view research on every planet and then choose which one they would live on and then explain why.

Project Overview Each group will conduct research based on the planet assigned to them. They will be required to collaborate digitally through the use of Google Docs. I will be monitoring progress as well as providing feedback and answering any questions through the use of this application.
Research Research should be concentrated to these 5 areas: Size of the planet Location of the planet in relation to the sun Physical characteristics of the planet History of the planet Resources found on planet
KEEP DETAILED RECORDS Controlled variables: These are the things that are kept the same throughout your experiments. Independent variable: The one variable that you purposely change and test. Dependent variable: The measure of change observed because of the independent variable. It is important to decide how you are going to measure the change.
Works Cited Be sure to include print and electronic sources and put them in alphabetical order.

When viewing the document please find the fact that is most interesting to you and edit the fact so that the font is 24 and the print is bold. • This will show me that you understand how to access the document and make edits to the content. • You can also invite people to view and edit the document by email addresses. • Feel free to add any questions you may have to the document!
