  1. Factor Rainbows • A colorful way to find the factors of given numbers

  2. Some important Definitions! • Factor - a number that is MULTIPLIED to get a given product • Product - the answer to a multiplication problem

  3. So you've been given a number • Let's go with twenty

  4. Making Rainbows • Always start with 1 and the number itself • Connect the numbers with a rainbow arc

  5. Work your way up from left to right getting bigger • So after 1 comes 2 • If it's an even number

  6. 2x10=20 • Connect these with another rainbow arc

  7. You may have noticed • As you work your way from right to left... • The numbers get smaller • Working your way to the middle until you run out of numbers

  8. After 2 comes 3 • But 3 is not a factor

  9. Moving on up to 4 • Yup, 4x5=20 • Write them down; Draw the arc

  10. There is no number between 4 and 5 • So you are done!!!

  11. So this is your factor rainbow for 20 • The factors of 20 are... • 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, & 20
