  2. Purpose • Programme of research into management of weight and long term conditions • Relationship between key variables from NHS perspective • Facility • multiple cohort trials • multiple studies

  3. Methods • Recruitment large observational cohort of patients with condition(s) of interest • Regular outcome measurement of whole cohort • Capacity for multiple RCTs and studies

  4. Recruitment Two stage 40 GP practices Mail out to 144,000 patients Invitation from GP Health Questionnaire SAE Online form

  5. GP Invitation letter = Patient Information Sheet

  6. Milestones • NHS Research Ethics Committee approval • 30 GPs recruited • 18,400 returned Health Questionnaires • 5 collaborative studies active/ completed • 6+ studies coming onstream in 2013 including one cmRCT (additional income)
