  2. Four highlights so far (2012/13) • Presentation of 5* operator plaques to 15 operators on May 30th • Local Sustainable Transport Fund bid to Government successful (ECO Stars received £226K) • Revision of ECO Stars Assessment Criteria and Star Rating completed . • Recruitment of 50th Member

The local offering • Annual workshop for members • Any transport services procured through four local councils are requested to join scheme • Supporting other UK schemes by inviting them to attend South Yorkshire Steering Group meetings to support their own implementation • ‘Future Direction of ECO Stars’ Workshop in Sheffield – late 2012

  7. local challenges Challenge 1: Engaging with small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with smaller (and older) fleets Plan: Build contacts with local business groups e.g. Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), Dearne Valley ECO Vision, Sheffield City Region Sustainability Forum etc. to use their communication channels and support

  8. local challenges Challenge 2: Attracting match funding into scheme which is impacting on support activities (not core recruitment) Plan: £226k of funding received for ongoing development of ECO Stars. This was made available from the UK Government’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund. Further meetings with Government departments to secure support

  9. local challenges Challenge 3: Beginning local evaluation activity Plan: Funding received from Local Sustainable Transport Fund to procure a detailed Qualitative and Quantitative Assessment of the South Yorkshire Scheme.
