Detail: Detail: Archaeologists can learn about ancient customs and beliefs by studying artifacts. Archaeologists work long hours to dig, dust off, and excavate artifacts. Main idea: An archaeologist studies objects to discover clues from the past. Detail: Detail: Artifacts are examined and dated, and compared to other objects found. A “dig” (or site) can take many years to excavate!
Summary: An archaeologist uses many utensils to excavate a site; artifacts found are closely examined and are used to make predictions about ancient societies.
