  4. Power & Cooling infrastructure Electrical and mechanical subsystems: 15 MVA

  5. NRC KI Tier-1 overview • Tier-1 in NRC “KI” will: • support 3VOs: ALICE, ATLAS and LHCb; • run both WLCG general services and VO-specific services*. • We define 4 milestones*: • Dec 2012— prototype, LHCOPN — 2 Gbit/sec; • Jul 2013 —tested LHC OPN (2 Gbit/sec), WLCG and VO-specific services, resource upgrade,; • Nov 2013 — resource upgrade; • Dec 2014 — LHC OPN, WLCG and VO-specific services are tested to comply with A&R requirements; resource upgrade. • * Details are outlined in the execution plan

  6. Growth of resources in NRC KI • Disk resources include tape buffer pools • Resources of 2014 are calculated as 30% increase fromfigures of 2013

  7. The process of creating the Tier-1 at the NRC KI History of creation

  8. The current state (08.2013) of resource Tier-1 NRC KI center.

  9. Schematic diagram of NRC KI Tier-1 cluster

  10. Connectivity for NRC KI Tier-1 - current status

  11. Connectivity for NRC KI Tier-1 - plan for 2014

  12. The processing of real data of the experiment «ATLAS» in the Tier-1 NRCKI • Starting with May 2013 the tasks processed by our center: • May – 66111; • June – 59138; • July – 94432; • August – 70912; • Total = 290 593 tasks. • Of them successfully processed: • May – 65884; • June – 58 754; • July – 93 902; • August – 69 216. • Total = 287 756 tasks, accounting for 99,024 percentof all processed tasks. Processed over 200 TeraBytes of data • So that reliability of the prototype was 99% for the time of processing.

  13. «Alice» & «LHCb»in the Tier-1 NRCKI • These experiments will begin their work on our Tier-1 prototype this autumn already after we finish remaking our network to 40 Gigabit core.

  14. ? HPC+HTC Grid & cloud infrastructure N x 10Gb/s HPC 2 : INTEL CPUs 123 TF HPC 3: GPGPUs 127 TF 1 PB Lustre Data store for Data Integration HPC 3 SMPs HPC 1: INTEL CPUs 34 TF Grid & cloud farms Experimental facilities Video cluster & wall

  15. HPC as a Service • HPC as a Service: make HPC clouds possible • OpenStack cloud platform is a basis • Uses KVM/QEMU with our modifications • Provides infrastructure as a service (IaaS) • Prototype is available and currently being tested • Further optimize VM performance • Decrease host OS noise • Further reduce virtualization overhead • Build specialized software/platform level services on top of HPC as a Service system • Bare-metal HPC clouds • No overhead, but requires careful hardware setup • Big Data, GPGPU virtualization • Many SaaS/PaaS applications

  16. Tier-1 for ATLAS, ALICE & LHCb at Kurchatov Institute (NRC KI) Thank you!
