College & Studies • Upon graduating, She started at the all-female Huntington College, where she participated in the literary honor society and glee club. • Then, she transferred to the University of Alabama from 1945-1949. • At Alabama, Lee contributed to the school’s newspaper and became an editor of “The Rammer Jammer,” a humor magazine for the school. • Her junior year she was accepted into the law school at the university, however it proved to be too demanding. She expressed that her true calling was writing.

This could resemble how lee struggled to connect with her mentally ill mother. • The novel contains lots of issues over racism in regards to the legal system.
