Problems Addressed • Current biomass literature is difficult to piece together • Scattered • Fragmented • Inconsistent • Not accessible for various audiences • For example, researchers, grade school teachers, grandmas, policymakers
Objective • Develop an online monograph of everything biomass • Comprehensive and consistent content • Tailored to various audiences • Using best available technology to develop, deliver, and maintain • Easy to use and navigate • Need it ASAP
Features: Level of Detail • Researcher • Full academic version, including data, graphics, technical jargon, references • Lay Audience • Newspaper article version, no technical jargon, simplified language • Abstract • Non-technical summary version, short, concise • On-the-fly switching among levels
Features: Self Directed Output • A step beyond a linear presentation of organized material • A step toward a smart search resulting in customized output • Pre-set graphical “slices” of biomass topics from which a user may navigate and choose
