  3. Before Accident Grant Sharman was a typical New Zealander teenager aged 15 in 1977 He broke his neck playing an interhouse rugby game at Kings college Auckland. (It was a prop in a ruck form,I dived for the ball when everything went black I new there was something wrong.)

  4. Recovery • Grant Sharman took a long time to recovery and was told he will never walk again. Sadly the doctor was telling the truth. Grant Sharman is not one of those people who pack a puss and sulk as well as giving up, he is one of those people who do not give up he just gets on with his life everything happens for a reason.

  6. Coaching Career • Grant Sharman's coaching Career was 2004-2006. • Coached the Wheel Blacks. • 29-31 Gold medals over Canada at the 2004 Athens Paralympics • Honours: 2004: Awarded MNZM for services to disable community and to sport.

About Grant Sharman • Born: Auckland, December 8, 1961 • In 1977 at the age of 15, Grant Sharman suffered a broken neck as result of a rugby injury. • Grant had been playing in an internal ‘house’ game during his fifth year at King’s College. • Grant had wanted to be a pilot and was in the top educational stream but had to abandon any hope of flying as a result of becoming a tetraplegic.
