USPACOM MISSION US Pacific Command (USPACOM) provides assistance to the governments of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and other affected nations to mitigate the effects of the recent earthquake and tsunami in the Indian Ocean. Conduct of operations is in support of USG lead agency and in coordination with international organizations, non-governmental organizations and coalition nations. UNCLASSIFIED

Indonesia: Ops • Last 24 Hrs • BGen Cowdrey, CDR USSG-I, arrived 2 Jan • 12 x CSG H-60s and 2 x C-130s delivered supplies/USAID cargo to Banda Aceh • 10 x H-60 sorties fm LINCOLN delivered supplies IVO Meulaboh • Today • USSG to coordinate C-130 use of Banda Aceh Airfield • USSG Starter Kit is staged at White Beach, Okinawa; onload of FT MCHENRY commenced 2 Jan • Next 96 Hrs • ESG-5 to conduct ops eliminate backlog of supplies at Banda Aceh • HST and ATC capability to Banda Aceh • Assessment • Focus on assessment of Meulaboh region • Creating Inter Agency coord center in Madan • ESG will significantly enhance distribution Unclassified

Thailand: Ops Update • Last 24 Hrs • 5 x MC-130s transported 85,000 lbs of supplies • MEDEVACED 17 German citizens to Phuket • CJTF-536 arrived Bangkok. • Today • Continue assessment of Khao Lak Region • Next 96 Hrs • USSG transition to Phuket 3 Jan and establish USSG • Full JTF C2 capability at Utapao established within 72 hrs • TALCE Tms deploy to Phuket & Krabi to facilitate offloading aircraft • SECSTATE arrives 3 Jan • Assessment • Focus continues in Khao Lak region • Interagency architecture mature Unclassified

Sri Lanka: Ops Update • Last 24 Hrs • USSG conducted initial surveys of SE coastal region • Support requirement limited to 3 southern provinces • USSG team met w / Maldives Govt 2 Jan to conduct initial assessment: No add’l medical aid required; ENG/water purification needed. • USSG met w/senior military leaders to coordinate priority of effort • Today • TALCE Det expect arrival of offload personnel; 2 x C130s w/Security Tms • 2 x C-17s arrive (50-70 PAX); 2 x UH-60s and TALCE equipment. • MV Lummus and MV Bonnyman proceed to Sri Lanka. • Next 96 Hrs • 4 x HH-60s expected to arrive by 3 Jan (total 6) • CG, 3D FSSG (USSG) arrives Sri Lanka • Aerial surveys in progress • Assessment • Helo deployment in next 2 days will enhance distribution • Maldives plan under development Unclassified
