Run Strategy (cont’d) • Proposal for a run strategy: • Beam tuning • Low intensity (<1%) kaon run with a minimal L0 trigger configuration • Detector commissioning • L0 trigger commissioning and definition • Sub-detector reconstructions • Muon run • Alignement • Reduced instensity (1-10%) kaon run with a more specific L0 trigger configuration • HLT trigger definition • Event reconstruction • Special runs (?) • low intensity beam in detector acceptance • «proton» run (?) • Reduced «Full» intensity kaon run with L0 and, possibly, HLT trigger Giuseppe Ruggiero - Physics WG meeting
L0 Trigger Strategy • Minimal configuration (minimum bias triggers): • Q1, Q1 × MUV3, Q1 × !MUV3, Q1 × NHOD, Q1 × NHOD × !MUV3, Q2, QX, ... • pnn main stream: • 2014 run (minimal): • Q1 × (RICH > 3) × !MUV3 × (E LKr < 20) • > 2014 run (full): • Q1 × (RICH > 3) × !MUV3 × (E LKr < 20) × (E LKr + MUV < 40) × (E SAV, LAV < 4) × (E LKr > 1.5 or E MUV > 8.5) Giuseppe Ruggiero - TDAQ WG meeting
L0 Trigger Strategy • Other rare decays (already possible in 2014): • Q1 × (RICH > 3) × (E LKr > 10) / D • QX × (RICH > 10) × (E LKr > 10) / D • QX × (RICH > 10) × (MUV3 2 outer) • QX × (RICH > 10) × (MUV3 1 outer) × (E LKr > 10) • Control samples / Main kaon decay modes: • Minimum bias • Random • Specific for accidental (?) HLT Trigger Strategy Track + P + Z requirements applied on events passingpnnfull L0 without accidentals (x5 reduction) • General Minimal: • Nothing • pnn HLT: • At least one track reconstructed (full pattern recognition in straw) • Momentum between 10 and 45 GeV (no fit, only full pattern recognition) • Z vertex < 180 m (no fit, only full pattern recognition, vertex done as intersection with the noinal beam axis) • RICH, CHOD mulitplicity (?) • KTAG (?) • «Rare» decays HLT • HLT for control samples • Sample for accidental studies (KTAG) See for reference G.R. Tracks N tracks reconstructed in the spectrometer for events passing pnn L0. Very powerful against late Z decays, but may be sensitive to accidental activity. Accidental activity complicates the pattern recognition. Time resolution of good reconstructed tracks expected around 6 ns. Giuseppe Ruggiero - TDAQ WG meeting
Conclusions • The L0 trigger strategy for the physics runs has been outlined. • The expected L0 rate is «well» within the L0 bandwith (enough safety margin). • Besides the trigger comissioning (priority this year!), we must profit from the 2014 to validate/improve the L0 strategy (as much as possible). • Some idea for the L1,2 level trigger are on paper, but the full strategy with all the implementation issues (rate - timing) have not been fully exploited. • The implementation of the L1,2 trigger should closely follow the development of the offline reconstructions (at least for the straws). • In my opinion the 2014 run must be used to define the strategy for the L1,2 triggers and to address all the issues related to the implementation.
