Classical Greece. Greece had little good farmland. Life in ancient Greece center around the Aegean Sea. Greeks became sailors and traders. Greeks brought grapes, wine, olives, wool and pottery. Greeks traded for meat, lumber and vegetables. Greeks set up colonies around the Aegean world.

  9. Spartans had the best army in Greece.

  10. Children were raised to be strong and useful to the city-state.

  11. Spartan girls were also trained to defend the city-state.

  12. Spartans played sports and grew strong.

  14. One of the most important places in Athens was the agora.

The Greeks established colonies and built city-states throughout the Aegean. Their democratic form of government was the model for our won government.
