  2. Patient Care through • Dedicated Volunteers • Volunteers are the heart of the Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic. It is only through the support of dedicated medical and non-medical volunteers that we are able to provide the necessary services to the uninsured. From caring for patients, to assisting with administrative tasks, to providing health education, your time and expertise could make a difference in the health of our patients and our community. • Serving the Uninsured • In Our Community • The non-profit clinic was founded in 2002 by Jeanie Schmidt who identified a critical need for health screenings for children seeking entrance to Fairfax County Schools. In 2005, an adult clinic was added to serve the needs of patients with chronic illnesses including high blood pressure or diabetes. We are a member of the Virginia Association of Free Clinics and the National Association of Free Clinics. The clinic offers free health care including: • Short-term non-emergency care for children. • School entrance physicals and sports physicals for children ages 3 to 19. • Primary Medical Care for adults with high blood pressure or diabetes . • For those who have no health insurance or Medicaid, a household income level of 200% or less of the poverty level and currently live in Herndon, Reston, Chantilly or Centreville. • How You Can Help • For a volunteer’s application visit the website or e-mail freeclinicvols@aol.com. If you love to cook, please help us provide meals for our volunteers. • We rely on donations from individuals, organizations and businesses in our community to provide our services. For more information contact (571) 235-3577 or view our website www.jsfreeclinic.org.
