Test Programme for AC coaches ELPS/TP/AC/01’JAN 94
Tests to be carried out on RMPU coaches • Conditioned air leakage test • Air delivery test • Pre-cooling test • Pull down test • Spare capacity test • Test for safety devices • Generation test (SG AC coaches)
Tests on RMPU coaches • Conditioned air leak test • To be conducted after completion and cleaning of Ducts & filters. • Install Return air and Fresh air filters and adjust Fresh air quantity • Run both the Blowers • Traverse a smoke of Agarbatti/Dhoopbatti near • Evaporator chambers • Canvas and main duct • Fresh and return air duct • Detected air escape routes to be blocked.
Tests on RMPU coaches • Air delivery test • Calculated from Fresh air requirements (0.7 (smoking)/0.35 (non-smoking) m3/min/passenger) • Velocity measured with anemometer using hoods (FA) • FA=Exhaust air (max) • Conditions • Voltage 130+/-1 V DC/ 415+/- 5% V AC • Both side blowers running • Fans OFF • Readings taken after ½ hour • Coach under shed • FA & EA to be regulated (FA set value = EA (-10%))
Tests on RMPU coaches • Pre-cooling test • Conducted to record time taken for cooling the coasch without passengers, FA blocked, Light & Fans ON and temperature of AC compartment raised to 45 0C. • Coach placed under shed • FA intake openings blocked • DB & WB temperature of Ambient taken • Calculate & provide Electrical compensating load from chart • Raise AC compartment temp to 45 0C by switching RMPU heaters ON in manual mode and compensating load.
Tests on RMPU coaches • Pre-cooling test (contd….) • Switch ON lights and fan and Run both the plants in Auto mode (Thermostat working to be ensured) • In earlier built coaches time to be recorded with each High/Med/Low settings • Record the timings of each RMPU • Total time taken by each plant to cool the coach to lowest setting to be < 1 hour.
Tests on RMPU coaches • Pull down test • Conducted to see the AC plant capability to cool the fully occupied coach inextreme summer conditions. • Adjust FA openings as per requirements • Switch ON electrical compensating load (duly reduced @ 120 W/person present inside )and RMPU heaters in Manual mode and raise temp to 45 0C. • Switch ON all light and fan • Run both the plants in Auto mode • Record time taken for cut-off • Time taken to be < 2 hrs
Tests on RMPU coaches • Spare Capacity test • Run both plants in Auto mode • Record total OFF & ON time over a period of 1 hr • Calculate % spare capacity =Total OFF time/Total time*100 • Test for safety devices • HP (by switching OFF condensers)/LP (by switching OFF blower) cut-outs and running compressors by bypassing condenser/AC1 interlocks • Should operate within +/- 5% of set value • Vane relay • OHPs • Thermostats
Tests on RMPU coaches • Generation test (SG coaches) • Run the alternators with the help of Dyna drive • Record cut-in speeds (to be < 400 RPM) • Run alternators at 800, 1500 and 2000 RPM with both RMPUs running and battery in circuit and record load being shared by each alternator (Difference not to exceed 30 Amp) • Commissioning test
