  1. Supplementary Table S-1: Chromosomal location of the LVS promoters identified in this study, based on the LVS genomic sequence deposited in the NCBI databank (GenBank: AM233362.1). The 33 unique promoter regions identified and characterized in this study originate from the only three visible fluorescent gfp library clones which were all identical and contained the bacterioferritin promoter (Pbfr) (shown at the top) and from forty analyzed cat library clones. Of these cat library clones, only 32 represent unique chromosomal regions while the remaining eight promoters were either completely identical (clones 1,10,38 and 8,34) or contained different F. tularensis fragments originating from the same chromosomal region [clones {6,35,40}, {12,26}, {14,29} and {4,5}].Except for the bfr promoter at the top of the listthe other promoters are arranged according to their CAT-numerical order. Strong promoters are shaded in dark grey, moderate promoters in light grey and weak promoters in white. ND: Exact 5’-end was not determined.
