Accounting methods for measuring performance ACCOUNTING METHODS CASH-BASIS ACCOUNTING ACCRUAL ACCOUNTING • Records only cash receipts and cash payments • cash receipts = revenues; • cash payments = expenses • Revenues recognized when earned; when firm sells/delivers goods or services • Expenses recorded when incurred (matched with revenues)
