Market Place. The first market place was probably located on a much larger than present Church Green. The buildings between Church Street, Queen Street and Vane Lane are market in-fill. A second market developed on the old Roman Road around the Market House (Cricketers)

Market Place • The first market place was probably located on a much larger than present Church Green. • The buildings between Church Street, Queen Street and Vane Lane are market in-fill. • A second market developed on the old Roman Road around the Market House (Cricketers) • This second market expanded into the triangle bounded by Church Street, East Street and just west of Swan Yard.
Planned development • Stoneham Street is an example of planned development just north of the new market. • Next are a few slides of what the market place complete with stalls and shops would have looked like.
