Pike Place History • On August 17th, 1907 Pike Place was born • Seattle City Councilmen Thomas Revelle proposed a meeting place between farmers and shoppers, due to the high rising cost of onions and other vegetables • 10,000 customers showed up to 1st avenue and Pike street, by 11:00 am farmers were sold out • By the end of the year, the first Pike Place market building opened with every space filled
