H.B. 21 – Drivers License Emergency Contact DatabaseSponsor: Marie H. Poulson • The Basics: • The state would create a database (virtual file box) that stores contact information for drivers. A driver’s information is only placed there if he/she shares it. • Current Status: • Passed in the House of Representatives and Senate
S.B. 128 - WIRELESS TELEPHONE USE RESTRICTION FOR MINORS IN VEHICLESSponsor: Ross I. Romero • The Basics: • Drivers under the age of 18 cannot use their phones to talk to another person. • Most likely wouldn’t be in trouble if talking to parents or reporting an emergency • Current Status: • Passed in the Senate, waiting for a vote in the House of Representatives.
H.B. 108 – Internet GamblingSponsor: Stephen E. Sandstrom • The Basics: • Clarifies that internet gambling is illegal in Utah. • Current Status: • Has not been voted on.
H.B. 62 – Provisions Regarding School SuppliesSponsor: Kraig Powell • The Basics: • Elementary school teachers can send home a list of supplies for class, but have to emphasize that students do not HAVE to supply their own. • Current Status: • Passed in House; Amended in the Senate and will be voted on.
