Structure FIRST STANZA I am (who you are) I wonder (something of curiosity) I hear (a sound) I see (something that can be seen) I want (an actual desire) I am (the first line of the poem repeated) SECOND STANZA I understand (something that is true) I say (something you believe in) I dream (something you dream about) I try (something you really make an effort about) I pretend (a way you act that isn’t true) I am (the first line of the poem repeated) Example I am the lion in the zoo I wonder about my cubs’ future I hear tourists talking I see cameras flashing I want to sleep all day I am the lion in the zoo I understand I am here to be stared at I say I want to be free! I dream of chasing my prey I try to be strong I pretend not to care I am the lion in the zoo. “I Am” PoemWrite an “I Am” poem as your animal.Then, put it on white paper and draw a picture of your animal.
