English Literature Unit 11 hour 45 mins • 50% overall GCSE grade • Friday 10th June pm • This will mean that you will have to arrange your own transport home. A letter is going home this week. • Section A – Literary Heritage text. You will work with an extract. • Section B – Different Cultures text. You will have a choice of 2 essay questions to answer.
English Literature Unit 11 hour 45 mins • Clean copies of the two texts will be provided in the exam. • Timings: • 55 mins Literary Heritage text (plus 5 mins reading time) • 45 mins Different Cultures text
English Language Unit 21 hour 45 mins • 40% overall GCSE grade • Wednesday 15th June pm • Section A – Different Cultures text. You will be working with an extract firstly and then you will have to find an extract of your own from another part of the text • Section B – Writing. You will have a choice of 2 tasks.
English Language Unit 21 hour 45 mins • Section A • You will be asked about how language ‘influences’ the reader . Think of this as how language presents the idea / character or event. • The focus is on language so you must select language choices and also comment of what type of language it is. Eg. Verbs, pronouns, imperatives etc • You will have a clean copy of ‘Of Mice and Men’ to use.

Section BWriting • Check list: • Clear paragraphs • Language devices • Connective words and phrases • Interesting and appropriate vocab choices • Advanced punctuation such as colons and semi-colons. • Aim to write 6 paragraphs
