  1. A Quick Rule of Design • The wants of the many out way the wants the few or the one. • As a designer what you prefer or what you know is a better design may not be what the audience • wants to see.

  2. Why not put up text only? • I could throw up a text page in one afternoon, (I could throw one up in an hour) but that would leave a bad impression on a viewer. • A computer club shouldn’t have a throw together home page.

  3. Why Use Color and Images? The home page is the first impression a person has of your organization or club.

  4. Art as I see it is any human activity which doesn’t grow out of either of our species two basic instincts: Survival and Reproduction Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud Add color and print becomes art

  5. Viewing Technology Web safe colors How powerful are the viewers computers? How fast is the internet connection? Type of browsers: broad or narrow Audience Function Vs. Form Content Vs. Images and animation 2 aspects of choosing colors

  6. Viewing Technology How powerful are the computers? How fast is the internet connection? Web safe colors – To use or not to use? Type of browsers: broad or narrow In our club there are many different browsers being used.

  7. Web safe colors The web-safe or browser-safe palette consists of 216 colors that should remain stable across Mac and Windows platforms. If you use the Web-safe palette, you’re likely to achieve greater consistency with your designs The diversity of the club requires that we stick to a ‘safe’ palette www.webtechniques.com

  8. Colors Effect Emotions • Red • + • is associated with blood, and with feelings that are energetic, exciting, passionate or erotic. • - • The downside of red evokes aggressive feelings, suggesting anger or violence. • http://coolhompages.com

  9. Orange • + • is the color of flesh, or the friendly warmth of the hearth fire. The positive implications of this color suggest approachability, informality. • _ • The negative side might imply accessibility to the point of suggesting that anyone can approach-- a lack of discrimination or quality. • http://coolhompages.com

  10. Yellow • + • is the color of sunshine. This color is optimistic, upbeat, modern. • - • The energy of yellow can become overwhelming. Therefore yellow is not a color that tends to dominate fashion for long periods of time. • http://coolhompages.com

  11. Green • + • In its positive mode, green suggests nature (plant life, forests), life, stability, restfulness, naturalness. • - • On the other hand, green in some tones or certain contexts (such as green skin) might instead suggest decay (fungus, mold), toxicity, artificiality.

  12. Blue • + • suggests coolness, distance, spirituality, or perhaps reserved elegance. Some shade of blue is flattering to almost anyone. • - • In its negative mode, we can think of the "blues"-the implication being one of sadness, passivity, alienation, or depression. • www.coolhomepages.com

  13. Violet + is the color of fantasy, playfulness, impulsiveness, and dream states. - In its negative mode, it can suggest nightmares, or madness. • http://coolhompages.com

  14. Color it white Use white. Use space. Please! • White in its nothingness acts as a wonderful balance between colors. You can also make your Web pages easy on the eyes by leaving plenty of white space, or empty space between page elements, in your layout especially if your site is rich in content (text). • http://coolhompages.com
