A road trip across the USA - in sound and pictures
Introduction. - work in groups of 3-4 students You are going to plan your next summer holiday – a road trip across the USA. You have a ticket to New York on 15 June, 2014 and a return ticket from Los Angeles on 1 August, 2014. A Ford Mustang is waiting for you at John F Kennedy Airport. Use the Internet or other sources of information to plan your journey across the USA Prepare a presentation of your travel plans including the following:
Which route do you want to take? • Where do you want to make your stops? • Be realistic!! – driving your car is the only means of transportation allowed • What sights do you want to see along the way? • Give a detailed description of EACH sight (a minimum of 2 sights per group member)
Prepare to present your travel plans in a small film made by means of a PowerPoint presentation with voice-over. • Use ”screencast-o-matic” (www. screencast-o-matic.com) to add voice-over to your PowerPoint. • All group members must participate actively in the presentation (i.e.: everybody must say something in the voice-over) • Your final presentation should last at least 2 minutes per group member.
Practical information: • Time frame: you will have today + 6 full lessons for this project. • Your perfectly edited and ”voiced-over” presentations/films (mp4) must be uploaded to ”elevplan” • Due date: 28 October, 2013 (before 10:00 pm) • The next couple of weeks we will watch a film or two every time we meet
How to use screencast-o-matic • When you have finished your PowerPoint with pictures, text and everything, AND you have carefully prepared what to say to each slide, you must add your voice-over. • Log into www.screencast-o-matic.com. • Open your PowerPoint. • Make sure that your microphone and your volume is turned on. • Click ”Start recording” and do just that! • When you have finished your ”film” save it as an mp4-file and upload it to “elevplan”.
