Šariš castle • Hill was already inhabited in 13th-11th century b.c. • Builtto protect trade road near Torysa • 14th century – Omodejovci – strenghtened walls, residential and farmers areas • Afterbattle near Rozhanovce–1312- castle is in kings property • Afraidof Muslims-Habsburgs made it into fortress-strenghtening the walls • 1660-their munition storage blew up and the whole castle was damaged
Kapušany castle • 13th century – to protect kings road going from Prešov to north • 1312 -the castle was destroyed in battle and was rebuilt in 1410 - Andrej Kappy • Underthe threat of Turks the castle was strenghtenedand got new weaponry • 1/2 of 18th century – Telekessy – castle burned in 1709 • In 1712 it was „rebuilt“ but in 1715 it was pulled down
Spiš castle • 13th century-Mongolsattack-need to build more castles • 1/3 13th c. – main tower in middle – ½ 13th c. – romanesque palace + castle chapel + massive walls • 1241 – resisted againstMongols, nevertheless they fortified its walls
Ľubovňa castle • Guardingcastle, guarding roads to Poland • 1st mention → 1311 • 1432 – 1451 castle was damaged by Husits • 1553 →nearly destroyedby fire • Afterwards → renovation (added some elements of renaissance) • Residenceto mayors of backup cities of Poland/Spišuntil 1772 • Since1772 → used as barracks, later as a warehouse
