Definition Primary Reference Materials (PRM) are prepared gravimetrically by national standards institutes using guideline ISO 6142 • Certified Reference Materials (CRM) are prepared in compliance with ISO guidelines and a certified by that national standards laboratory or an accredited laboratory using guideline ISO 6143 Working Reference Materials (WRM) are certified according to guideline ISO 6143
Traceability of Special Gases Traceability of special gases is necessary if these standards are applied to analyzer and/or methods. By applying standards which are directly traceable to primary gases, quality increases; measurements performed in different laboratories or at different moments are more comparable.
