MARINE TERMINAL TRAFFIC 2005 - 2007 • In 2007 container TEU’s were more than four times year 2005 level. • General cargo traffic in 2007 was at 100,000 ton level. • Dry bulk traffic in 2007 was at 125,000 ton level. • Vessel calls increased from 48 in 2005 to 124 in 2007.
MASTER PLAN UPDATE Expansion at South terminal to accommodate Panamax vessels. Wallenius Lines Fidelio – panamax roro ship APL Malaysia – panamax container ship Panamax size ships have a width of 106 ft (32.8 m), length of 750 ft +/- (230 m), and draft of 40 ft +/- (12 m).
MASTER PLANNING HIGHLIGHTS • Road access from North . • Truck gate from North (two lanes in, one lane out). • Rail access from South (from Access Recovery Spur). • Intermodal tracks (two at 1,100 ft each, with expansion potential). • Deep sea berth for Panamax size vessel (900 ft long, 100 ft wide, 45 ft minimum depth of water). • Potential to add second berth – long term.
MASTER PLANNING HIGHLIGHTS • Multi purpose open storage areas for containers and breakbulk cargoes (strengthen and improve pavement). • Relocate or retain maintenance/operations facility. • Pulp shed removed. • Construct operations building. • Upgrade utilities as required.
TERMINAL EQUIPMENT Consideration is being given to a variety of alternatives : • Relocate one of the existing cranes from Pacific Terminal. • Mobile Harbor cranes. • New and/or second hand gantry cranes designed for Panamax vessels. • Yard equipment : reach stackers, top picks, hostlers and chassis for moving boxes within the yard.
