Taking and Interpreting Tests • All tests/surveys can be found online at:http://www.prenhall.com/whetten • Be sure to read the directions before starting the test • After taking the test, you may receive different types of interpretive information • scores on specific test factors • norms (quartiles.)

  3. Quartiles • If you are in the: • top quartile – you scored higher than 75% of people taking the test • second quartile – you scored higher than 50% of people taking the test • third quartile – you scored higher than 25% of people taking the test • bottom quartile – you scored in the lowest 25% of people taking the test.

  4. Taking and Interpreting Tests • Additional information about test results can be found in the textbook and lecture slides - don't be afraid to read ahead! • Remember that many surveys are simply lists of behaviors - use common sense to interpret them or ask someone you respect to rate you on the factors in the test.

  5. Tests and Self-Awareness • View tests as feedback points • listen first, • then evaluate, based on: • interpretive material • consistency with other information • source of the test • quality of the test (reliability, validity.)
