How to apply for CMarTech registration: To become a registered Chartered Marine Technologist, you need to complete an online application or download a form (ask a CMarTech report writing professional for this). Your application will comprise: ? A completed application form that is signed by your referee ? A professional development report ? Your resume ? Registration fee ? Photocopies of your academic certificates CMarTech Rules of Professional Conduct: A marine professional applying for membership at the grade of Associate Member (AMIMartEST) or higher needs to abide by the IMarEST Code of Professional Conduct. Before the Professional Review Interview, you will be asked to read and sign the Code. The signed document needs to be presented to the interview assessors before the commencement of the professional review interview (PRI). The interview evaluators will return the signed document to ImarEST together with the completed interview outcome report form. After that, these documents will be recorded on your membership file. Professional Conduct Rules for CMarTech: 1. Stick to legal requirements and the recognized standards of professional conduct in your country of residence and, if different, in the country for or in which the work is being done. 2. Behave towards all people fairly and respectfully. 3. Work with skills, diligence and care and with regard to professional standards 4. Safeguard the public interest when it comes to health, safety and the environment and sustainability. 5. Use your professional skills and judgement to the best of your ability and not take up work that is outside your competency. 6. Accept responsibility for the work you take on or which is taken under your supervision.
7. Develop and maintain your professional skills. 8. Discharge your professional responsibilities with integrity, saying no to corrupt practices or any type (like bribery or anti-competitive practices/anti-trust violations) and maintain any necessary professional indemnity insurance. 9. Evaluate and handle related risks and communicate these appropriately. 10. Avoid actual conflicts of interest and report any perceived conflicts to affected parties. 11. Maintain client or/employer confidentiality. 12. Use and promote awareness, compliance and utilization of appropriate judgement in relation to all security matters including, but not limited to, those related to communications, information security and cyber security. 13. Raise, with your employer and/or appropriate regulatory authority, issues about a danger, risk, malpractice or wrongdoing which in your professional judgement affects others (‘whistleblowing’) and support a workfellow or any other person to whom you have a duty of care who is good faith does so. 14. Adhere to the provisions of the Royal Charter, Bylaws and Regulations of the Institute. 15. Inform the Institute of any major violation of the Institute’s Code of Professional Conduct by another member. 16. Inform the Institute in writing if convicted of a criminal offence or an adverse civil court judgement that is related to any aspect covered by this Code of Professional Conduct or if adjudged bankrupt or if disqualified as a Company Director or Charity Trustee. 17. Notify the Institute if you had a membership of any other professional organization terminated as the result of a disciplinary proceeding.
