Why is CKI smaller than other branches of the Kiwanis family?
Georgia Kiwanis • > 154 Clubs • > 6500 Members • Average Membership Dynamic • Professionals with full time jobs • Families • Live where you work • Age range: 18 years old and up
Georgia Key Club • 134 Clubs • 6,180 Members • Average Member Dynamic • High School Students • Live at home with their parents • Less than 10 hours of school work per week • Age range: 14 - 18
Georgia Circle K • 16 Clubs • 324 Members • Average Member Dynamic? • Different Types of Schools • Community Colleges • Private Schools • Traditional Schools
Life of a Student • Class work • Usually 12 to 15 credit hours per semester • 2 to 3 hours out of class for every hour in class • Work • Usually 10 to 20 hours a week • Activities and Organizations • CKI is only one of hundreds of organizations on college campuses.
Service • Our Motto: “Live to Serve, Love to Serve” • More Service than any other collegiate organization in the world • 300,000+ total recorded hours for CKI last year • Highest per member service hour rate of any branch in the Kiwanis Family • On Average 25 service hours per member per year
Leadership • Like Kiwanis we have leadership at all levels of the organization • Leadership scales from club officers all the way up to our international officers • Anyone in CKI can fill any leadership position, regardless of their experience or time in the organization
Fellowship • We focus on working as a group • We don’t just serve together, we get out and have fun together • College life is stressful and CKI is there to help students pull together and not only serve, but also enjoy what they are doing and who they are with
With out you, we are nothing • Every CKI club MUST have a sponsoring Kiwanis club • You are our mentors • Our organization cycles through members every 4 to 5 years, Kiwanis is fairly consistent
Club Costs • International Dues • $450 or $600 depending on school type and size • District Dues • $9 per member • Other Expenses • Gavel, Gong and Banner - $150 • Club T-Shirts $10 to $15 each • Costs involved with clubs projects
District Events • Fall Membership Retreat • $85 per attendee • Y’all Conference • $200 per attendee • DCON • $165 per attendee
The Basics • Kiwanis Advisor • Attend their meetings and have them attend your meetings • Make sure the club officers have been trained • Maintain active membership in the club • Recognize that sponsorship is a continuous endeavor • It goes way beyond paying their chartering fees • It means always being actively involved
Kiwanis Expectations • Help us collaborate with other branch's of the Kiwanis family • Help us increase our service potential • Provide us with opportunities for fellowship, personal growth, and professional development
Financial Obligation • $1,000 to $1,500 minimum per year • Does not need to be a lump sum • Make them work for it • Set stipulations on the money • Teach them to be responsible
