Finding 1 Suggestions Next Step: more data to look into the percent of actual prenatal care given in the ED. Suggestions: Increase the count/percentage of OB Navigators in the affected area. Add a full-time OB Navigator position directly into the affected area’s Emergency Departments.
Sample Finding #2 Southeast Indiana has the highest rates of substance abuse among pregnant women with Medicaid.
Finding 2 Suggestions Next Step: Confirm trends in local patient data sources. Suggestions: Update the OB Navigator role to include a sub-specialty of substance use disorder, in order to increase the integration and success of OB Navigators in the Southeast Indiana area. Increase the amount of OB Navigators with a substance use disorder specialty to the affected area.
Sample Finding #3 Marion County has the most dollars saved related to cost of care for Diabetic mothers (Medicaid).
Finding 3 Suggestion Next Step: Look at the top preforming counties by ratio and confirm in external data sets. Suggestion: Take a deeper dive into the top performers and find their successes, with the intention of adopting/integrating those successes.

Finding 4 Suggestion Next Step: Confirm trends in local patient data sources and trend mortality causes. Suggestion: All mothers in their 3+ pregnancy are considered higher risk for infant mortality and be approached by an OB Navigator.
