  2. Calipso è un satellite ambientale, mandato in orbita il 28 Aprile 2006 per mezzo del razzo Delta II. Esso aveva il compito di monitorare, per mezzo di strumenti al suo interno (per esempio il Cloud-Aerosol Lidar con polarizzazione ortogonale), l'impatto delle nubi e degli aerosol sul bilancio radioattivo della Terra e del suo clima. Il satellite fu lanciato insieme ad altri aventi compiti simili al suo.
