  4. What Exactly is Diversity? Diversity refers to all the ways that individuals are unique and differ from one another.

  6. Primary Characteristics:Qualities We Are Born With • Gender • Eye Color • Hair Color • Race • Birth Marks, etc.

  7. Secondary Characteristics: • Religion • Educational Level • Parental Status • Geographic Location • Socioeconomic Status

  8. Views Are Like Icebergs • Just as 90% of an iceberg is out of sight, very little can be determined about a person based on their appearance. Stereotypes are opinions based on their appearance.

  9. Respect Others for Their Differences Lovejoy Middle School has 661 Students

Activity • In Groups of 5 – Take out a piece of paper and write down as Many Answers as possible: • Identify how you and your group members are alike • Identify how you and your group members are different (Remember to respect differences; therefore, be nice!) Groups will share their list at the end of activity
