Crowther Chronicles November II What we are learning: - In math students are continuing to learn about fractional parts of a whole and fraction notation. Students will also be learning about adding larger numbers with a hundreds chart. - In reading students are continuing to learn about legends. Including what a legend is and how legends started. Students have been working in stations during reader’s workshop. The stations are comparing and contrasting, creative writing, ABC order and dictionary skills, guided reading and spelling. The kids are loving the different stations! - In writing students wrote an informational bat report and are now starting opinion writing. - In science we finished studying sound. - In social studies we are studying about the different Native American tribes and The First Thanksgiving. The different tribes that the students are studying about are the Plains, Woodlands, Northwest Coast and South West. Students will be learning about their resources, transportation, shelter, food, region and climate. . Upcoming Dates: - We are going to ImagiOn this Thursday the 21st. - This Friday the 22nd from 11- 12 is our simple Thanksgiving Feast, if you signed up for something please send it in. Parents are welcome. - There is no school next Wednesday the 27th, Thursday the 28th and Friday the 29th for the Thanksgiving holiday. • Things to remember: • - Please keep signing your child’s reading log and planner each night. • Please send in any pictures or old magazines you have that we can use for our Thankful placemats for Thanksgiving. • Thank you for all of your support!
