  2. Who I am…. • BA in Elementary Education • MA in Educational Psychology, evaluated research using a main frame with punched cards, Ugh! • MA + 15: Certified in Mathematics and Supervision, first Computer Science courses • MA + 30: Mostly C++ courses

  3. Who I am…. • Teacher of elementary school for 18 years. • Teacher of Math and Computer Science at Steinert High School, Hamilton, NJ for 18 years • Teacher of various versions of BASIC for 17 of the years at Steinert • Teacher of AP Computer Science for 5 years • Assistant Professor of Computer Science at TCNJ • since the Fall 2002 semester.

  7. Course Information • Textbook: • Web Wizzards Guide to Dreamweaver, james G. Lengel • Learning to Program in Alice Wanda Dann, Stephen Cooper, Randy Pausch There will be numerous documents and slides on SOCS Resources.

Grading: Approximate distribution: • 40% Labs: Individual and small group programming assignments along with interaction on SOCS Assessments. • 20% Self-evaluation and Peer Ratings, Class Participation (based on class discussion, collaborative group work, and attendance) • 40% One Objective Exam and Final Alice Showcase Presentation

  9. Summary • I am assuming no previous programming experience, but a background in math. • Explore the relationships between human creativity and cognition and computing. • Have a feeling of accomplishment and have fun!

You will have a link to this on your home page. • Write your technology autobiography, your journey through life with computers, etc., your various experiences: excitement, frustration, confusion, joyful, etc. • Write examples of human creativity, especially your own. • Explore the meaning of human creativity, human cognition and how these are related and how they both might relate to computing. • Tell about your interests outside of these areas.
