For Mission Australia a lack of affordable housing means a society where too many individuals and families are at risk of homelessness.For Mission Australia, a society where affordable housing is poorly built and only available in areas away from jobs, childcare and transport – where your heating and cooling costs are so high you can’t invest in your children’s education, sport or health; and where you need a car because there’s no public transport – is a society ripe for social unrest and economic decline.
We need planning that understands the principles behind social inclusion… that sees the people that live in the dwellings and communities and not the just the make up of the development itself.
