FY12 Strategic Highlights • Reduced number of co-publications to increase amount of “homegrown” content. • UK-based representative is spearheading additional European content acquisitions on behalf of AIAA. • Continuing efforts to improve financials. • Initiated development of our first book-based “App” Aerospace Design Engineer’s Guide for iPhone & iPad. • Plans are underway to select Library of Flight titles for the Amazon “Kindle” format.
Other 2012 Highlights • Activated the Scholar One site for books • Four new titles licensed for translation by Chinese Aviation Publishing & Media Co. • Launch Aerospace Research Central • Products: print, .pdf, and individual chapters for all e-books • E-book packaging and pricing Caveat: Do not distribute pdf versions of textbooks adopted for classroom use until we better understand and assess the risks of unauthorized copying and sharing.

2012 Book Sales • In FY12, Net Books Sold declined 15% over prior year and have declined 33% since FY07.
Sales Mix • Since FY07, the average mix of net Books sold by series is: • Education: 56% • Progress: 15% • Library of Flight: 29%

Progress Series EIC Search • A successful editor-in-chief search was conducted for Progress Series • Search committee membership comprised Mike Mendenhall (chair), John Anderson, Bill Oberkampf, Jeff Schroeder, and Paul Zarchan • Formal appointment will require a vote by the AIAA Board of Directors at their meeting on Friday • Tim Lieuwen will continue to serve as the interim editor-in-chief until the new editor is named
