Compound-Complex Sentences Take notes on p. 37 under your warm-up Remember (don’t copy): A compound-complex sentence contains two or more independent clauses and at least one subordinate clause.

For the rest of class... 1) I will pass it out: Read the nonfiction half sheet (Inaugural Address)) and do the assignment. Put on p. 39 of daybook (if you don’t finish, it is homework). 2) Get off of my desk: a) Text structure chart b) Any Upfront Magazine you’d like c) Read each short article on pgs. 3-5 d) Fill in the chart with evidence from the articles, giving examples of each type of text structure. The rest of the information on the chart is to help you find the examples. Be sure to identify the article. e) Put this sheet on p. 38 of your daybook. 3) When you finish, READ the magazine, RETURN TO MY DESK BEFORE YOU LEAVE
