Middle School Teacher • Middle school teachers teach students in grades 6 to 8. • They specialize in specific subjects such as Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Home & Careers, Technology and Music. • They may teach between 15 and 29 students at a time. • Middle school teachers teach five classes a day. • They prepare a lesson plan that includes what information they want to provide to students, as well as the assignments they will give out to the class.
Education Teachers must have at least a bachelor's degree, which usually take 4 years to complete. They also have to complete an approved teacher education program All middle school teachers who wish to teach in the New York public school system must have a Masters Degree.
Salary and Job Outlook • Most middle school teachers earn $49,450 a year. • Teachers can receive extra pay for coaching sports, working with students in extracurricular activities or during the summer by teaching summer school. • In addition to their salaries, full-time teachers also receive benefits, including, health and dental insurance, and pension plan contributions. • Approximately 1250 new middle school teachers will be hired in New York State each year.
Corporate Trainer • Corporate trainers present courses to all levels of a company’s staff, from entry-level workers to senior executives. Trainers research and put together the information necessary to teach courses, and design the lessons plans, assignments, and tests. • They are primarily employed by banks, government agencies and corporations. • Trainers teach many subjects including computers, safety procedures, sales techniques and communication skills. • Information technology trainers teach staff to use software. Product trainers educate salespeople on the different products the company manufactures.
Education • Corporate trainers need a bachelor’s degree in Liberal arts, social sciences, business, human resources, education, or communications. These degrees are all good preparation for teaching in corporate settings. • A master’s degree in education may be required for certain positions
