  4. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Promoting gender equality and equity in organizational development • Leading the process of adapting departmental operational culture to usage of gender mainstreaming approach

  5. Progress Report • Policy Development • Gender Policy Guidelines for the Public Health Sector finalized and launched in November 2002. • Advocacy & Awareness raising on policy: policy presented in 6 provinces (i.e., Limpopo, N. Cape, Free State, KZN, N.West and Mpumalanga) to senior management. Entry into Gauteng, Limpopo, W. Cape and E. Cape difficult.

  6. Progress…. • Gender analysis and mainstreaming training • National: Four clusters and one directorate trained • Limpopo Province: +/- 36 Middle Managers trained • All nine provinces: 15 senior and middle managers trained on Gender and Health aspects.
