The LIFE Programme (2014-2020) aims to broaden stakeholder involvement and fund projects focused on improving the implementation and enforcement of EU environmental and climate legislation. This includes a priority area on environment policy and governance. The programme supports better environmental and climate governance, information sharing, compliance and enforcement, and non-judicial conflict resolution.

LIFE+ Opportunities • LIFE+ has as horizontal objective to broaden stakeholderinvolvement • LIFE+ provides funds for a number of networks • LIFE+ includes a priority area named "Environment Policy& Governance„ • LIFE+ funds a series of projects that focus on better • implementation and enforcement of EU environmental andclimate legislation, mostly under the priority area "Natureand Biodiversity"
LIFE+ • Article 3 of Regulation (EU) No 1293/2013 on the establishment of a Programme for the Environment and Climate Action (LIFE) • General objectives include: • improvement of the quality of the environment • implementation and enforcement of Union environmental and climate policy • to support better environmental and climate governance at all levels, including better involvement of civil society, NGOs and local actors; • support the implementation of the 7th EAP
The Opportunities in the future LIFE Programme: A new Priority Area • Governance & Information: • Supports information and awareness raising projects and activities and facilitates knowledge sharing; • Supports communication, management and dissemination ofinformation, including development of cooperationplatforms and training;

The Opportunities in the future LIFE Programme: A new Priority Area (3) • In the LIFE Multiannual Work Programme for2014-2017 the following is provided for on access to justice (agreed by the Member States in the LIFE Committee, adoption foreseen: March 2014): • Awareness-raising and training on access to justice in the field of environment, • including on how to ensure and measure the efficiency and effectiveness of judicial review procedures, • Targeted groups: • judiciary, bodies responsible for the administration of justice, public administrations , and public interest lawyers.
The Opportunities in the future LIFE Programme: A new Priority Area (4) • Promoting non-judicial conflict resolution • Projects aimed at promoting non-judicial conflict resolution as a means of finding amicable and effective solutions for conflicts in the environmental field, • for example by activities and events aimed at training practitioners or sharing best practice and experience in the use of mediation in the field of the environment.
