  1. Progress Report The Anchor Dashboard Learning Cohort May 20, 2015Baltimore, Maryland Steve Dubb Research Director The Democracy Collaborative

  2. What is Being Collected Now: Learning from Site Visits • As reported in January, there is a lot of measurement on indicators, although it is not typically organized in one place. • Some campuses have developed “dashboard implementation teams” to build a greater strategic focus. • Each campus has identified a strategy to collect data going forward, involving a mix of faculty, graduate student & staff participation.

  3. Dashboard changes • Division of indicators into two categories: community status & institutional effort • Creation of an “anchor mission” outcome area • Rephrasing of “hiring” outcome as “employment” • Change of “affordable housing” to “housing affordability” • Joining of procurement and business incubation into a single outcome area titled "Thriving Local and Minority Business Community” • Miscellaneous other tweaks reflecting your input

  4. HUD proposal update • Proposal to HUD has been submitted. • Support letters in. (Thank you!) • Hope for HUD decision by October. • Policy Link role • Grant administration • Advisor to the project • Co-author of research report at end of 2-year grant period.

  5. Geography • Some cohort members have a single target geography. • Others prefer to measure two geographies (e.g., a Promise Zone area and the city as a whole). • Possible to do the latter: only cost is the need to collect “community status” indicator data from both geographies.

  6. Our work here • Affirm that the dashboard framework, though still a work in progress, is “good enough” to use as a “benchmarking” frame in 2015-2016. (Let us know of any needed last minute changes). • Please feel encouraged to add data points if you feel these are meaningful to your campus. • Please let us know what your additions are. This may feed into further dashboard refinement before we release an instrument that we are all comfortable with using publicly.
