let’s go to a party • The Introduction • writing the introduction to an essay can be compared to the map at the back of the party invitation explaining the directions and destination of the venue • an introduction should do this for the reader/marker • a clear standpoint should be taken followed by an explanation of how this will be achieved
enjoying what the party has to offer • the development • a six hundred word essay should have approximately three distinct points • this can be represented by - patting the bunnies,jumping on the bouncy castle and spending time at the food table • these are all linked to the main theme - the party but represent different aspects and examples
the nature of examples • an example must have a clear and distinct link to the topic • only one anecdotal example may be used • the more specific the example the better • avoid generalisations • create links between paragraphs and ideas
