  2. Who is the Holy Spirit? • He is Deity (God), Acts 5:3-4 • Possesses the attributes of Deity: • Eternal, Heb. 9:14 • Omniscient, 1 Cor. 2:10-11 • Omnipotence, Micah 3:8 • Omnipresence, Psa. 139:7-10

  3. Who is the Holy Spirit? • He is Deity (God), Acts 5:3-4 • Possesses attributes of an individual(Jno. 16:13) • Speaks, Acts 1:16 • Teaches, John 14:26 • Knowledge, 1 Cor. 2:11 • Has a will, 1 Cor. 12:11

  4. What the Holy Spirit has Done • Inspired prophets (1 Peter 1:10-11) 2 Peter 1:21 • Baptized apostles with himself: • Promise,Matt. 3:11; Acts 1:2-5 (2:1-4) • Power to be witnesses,Acts 1:8: • Revelation,Jno. 16:13; 1 Cor. 2:10 • Inspiration,1 Cor. 2:13 • Confirmation,1 Cor. 2:4-5 (Heb. 2:3-4)

What the Holy Spirit has Done • He fell on Cornelius & his house, Acts 10:44-47 (11:15) • Testimony that Gentiles can be saved by the gospel, Acts 15:7-9 • Not to produce faith, 15:7 • Not to purify hearts (save),15:9 • Not to enable understanding, 10:33 • Bore them witness, 15:8 (11:3, 15-18; Joel 2:28 – Acts 2:17)

  6. What the Holy Spirit has Done • He gave miraculous gifts to Christians • To confirm and spread the gospel,Mark 16:17-20; Heb. 2:3-4 • By laying on apostles’ hands, Acts 8:14-18 • Given according to His will, 1 Cor. 12:11 • Gifts ended when their purposes were accomplished

  7. What the Holy Spirit is Doing • He is using his product (the word of truth) to help accomplish human redemption [AGENCY] • Convict the world, Jno. 16:8-13; 2 Ths. 2:13-14 • Guide Christians, Rom. 8:14; 1:16; Jas. 1:21-22 • To testify of our sonship, Rom. 8:16

  8. What the Holy Spirit is Doing • He is having fellowship with Christians, Phil. 2:1 (Rom. 8:9-11) • “Spirit dwells in you” / “Christ in you” • HOW? • By faith (Eph. 3:17; Jno. 14:23)… As the word of Christ dwells in us

  9. What the Holy Spirit is not Doing • He is not baptizing people with himself, Ephesians 4:5 • He is not giving miraculous spiritual gifts, 1 Cor. 13:8-10 • He is not revealing new truth, John 16:13 (Jude 3)

  10. What the Holy Spirit is not Doing • He is not enlightening people apart from the word, Rom. 1:16 (Psa. 119: 105; 2 Cor. 4:3-4; 3:8-9) • He is not personally indwelling bodies, 1 Cor. 6:19 • Speaks of fellowship, cf. Father & Son(Jno. 14:23; Col. 1:27)
