The Basics Primary and Secondary Colours Primary- red, yellow, blue Secondary- Violet(Purple), orange, green Tertiary – Primary and Secondary mixed (always has a dash -) i.e. red-orange, green-yellow
Harmonising and Contrasting colours Harmonising- Colours beside each other on the colour wheel- these are easy on the eye and can be relaxing Contrasting- Colours opposite on the colour wheel. These can be eye catching and interesting. It can also make objects stand out.
TonesTints and Shades This is the term to how strong or weak a colour is. Tints- Add white to a colour to create a tint Shades- Add black to a colour to create a shade
Relationship between colours and moods All colours can create different moods when they are used. Designers can create a specific mood or atmosphere by choosing specific colours.
