  2. Our Purpose • TO HELPOTHERS • TO INCREASE STUDENT AWARENESS OF THE WIDER WORLD AND HOW THEY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE • TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO DEVELOP KEY SKILLS (THROUGH ORGANISING, PLANNING, LEADING, DELEGATING, NEGOTIATING ETC)

  3. How is the Committee Organized? • Different Charities • Leaders appointed by previous Heads and Staff • Sub-Committees for each Charity • Individual Leaders of each Sub-Committee • Specific and Individual Roles for all members

  4. Charities • The Children of the Mountain • Harmony House • Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) • The RAEY School in Ethiopia • Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) • Dubai Centre for Special Needs (DCSN) • Adopt a Camp • Breast Cancer Arabia

What Worked in Previous Years • Bake sales: 200-400 AED • Parents evenings: 500-800 AED • Bake sale at Sports Day:1354 AED •  Flea Market:200-4000 AED •  Year 7 Disco:3000 approx •  Year 10 Valentines party 3300 approx • Sponsored Runs: RAK and Dubai ½ Marathon and 10km races • Sponsored Haircut • Various other events

  6. What would each team do? • Hold regular meetings. About how to raise funds, how to publicise, when to hold events. • All plans should be checked by Teacher coordinator.(EJ, DF, RM, RD, KG, TJ, NF, etc) • Every month, submit a brief update on what the team has done. • Publicised events and charities in news letters and Shamal. • By term 2, selected teams should be ready to present their activities to the rest of the charity team, their year group, or whole school assembly. • Outside agencies (MSF etc) could also be invited to make presentations to whole school/charity teams

  11. Location: JumeirahBeach Park (Gate 6), JumeirahBeach Road Date: Friday, February 7, 2014  Registration time: 8:00 am - 9:00 am Walk start time: 9:00 am (walk duration – approx. 45 minutes) Participation fee: AED 30 (free for children under 5)

(ie –year group/ numbers involved)………………………….. …………………... • Equipment, facilities required…………………………………………………………………………………………….. • Idea of how much it will cost, and a breakdown of the likely costs, and how much will be charged. • Check with RD/Sanjana that these dates do not clash with other events. • Seek approval from: Head of year, Bursar, if school facilities are to be used. • Request volunteers from staff if supervision is necessary • Advertise it (notes in registers, notice boards) Get this approved first by teacher-advisers • If letter is to be issued to parents, this must be approved by Headmaster first • Keep RD,Co-chairs and teacher-advisers updated on progress; tell us if details change. • All money collected must be counted, recorded and passed straight to Mrs Greenlees. • Prepare a very brief report for the School E-Bulletin, celebrating your amazing achievement!
