  6. 1st Year cohort 2010/11 • Pre-sessional Maths (3 hours in week 8) Physics DepartmentWeeks 8-10 activities in term 3 • Transferable skills training (1 hour in week 9) • Thinking like a Physicist challenge (1 hour in week 9) • Students split into teams of five and asked to answer one question in • detail and have a go at the others.

  7. 1st Year cohort 2010/11 130 students • Pre-sessional Maths (3 hours in week 8) 111 students Physics DepartmentWeeks 8-10 activities in term 3 • Transferable skills training (1 hour in week 9) 113 students • Thinking like a Physicist (1 hour in week 9) 102 students • Conference (5 hours in week 10) 68 students • Each team answers their question within a 10 minute presentation. • Audience discusses approach. • Prize for best two individuals (British Science Festival tickets).
